Prophets & Revelation // How Can I Make My Prayers More Meaningful // Come Follow Me

I love that I get to teach the Beehives because I feel like they're right out of Primary and ready to go a little deeper into developing their own testimony and relationship with God. I'm so excited to help them on this important journey, and I hope I can be a good example and teacher for them and live up to the role models that were my Young Women's leaders!

For my first lesson, I chose "How Can I Make My Prayers More Meaningful?"

To introduce the topic of prayer, I had someone open with an opening prayer, as usual, but when it was finished I just stood there like I was about to start the lesson, but I didn't speak. I stood there and stood there until it was very uncomfortable for everyone. I looked at everyone for a few seconds each and just drew it out as long as I could. The girls were saying, "Say something!" "What is she doing?" (This was difficult because it was my very first time teaching, and they don't know me at all! :) )
Finally, after I felt I had dragged it out enough, I said, "Do you think that's what your Father in Heaven feels waiting for you to speak to him? He wants us to talk to Him. He wants to hear from you." I think they really got the concept.

Then I wrote on the board HOW - WHAT - WHEN - WHERE - WHY

We put under "HOW" what we had learned about the basic aspects of prayer. As well as the basic structure of prayer. Then, as we went through the suggested reading materials, (Find some of that here, and here) we would write down thoughts that came to us that would answer any of the listed questions.

At the end, I gave them this prayer chart to keep track of their prayers for the next 3 weeks, so that they could pass off Faith value experience #1 in Personal Progress.
